City Of Las Vegas Cultural Arts & Community Events July 27-Aug. 2
Percussionist Rachel Julian Performs July 31 at Reed Whipple Cultural Center


Everyone is invited to enjoy the music of percussionist Rachel Julian on Friday, July 31, at 7 p.m. at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center. Julian will perform marimba, multi-percussion and steel drums. Tickets are priced at $5 for all seats. The center is located at 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Call (702) 229-6211 for tickets and information.

 Julian holds a doctorate as well as a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music. Her performance credits include the Las Vegas Philharmonic, “Steel R & R” steel drum duo, the Nevada Pops, Opera Las Vegas, Killian’s Angels, Turning Point Band, the Nevada Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Hairspray at Luxor Hotel & Casino, the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, the Henderson Civic Symphony and other endeavors. She appears on Andrea Bocelli's DVD “Amore Under the Desert Sky” (2005) and in the 2006 opening of the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. In 2004, Rachel performed for the Las Vegas launch of Luciano Pavarotti's farewell tour. She also has performed in Canada, Mexico, Austria, England and the Czech Republic.

Julian currently is piloting the percussion program for the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy. She acts as percussion specialist for the Clark County School District, coaches the percussion sections for the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras and Coronado High School's ensemble, maintains a private percussion studio and teaches for the College of Southern Nevada. She also is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team and serves as secretary for the Nevada Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.

Enjoy this community showcase of students’ achievements in drama and theatre arts. Performances will include improvisations and short, one-act plays by the talented children of The Arts Conservatory summer camp, produced and directed by the award-winning Rainbow Company staff.
