Martin Luther King Nevada Health Center Grand Opening
I hope you will join me for the Martin Luther King Nevada Health Center grand opening and open house at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11.  The center is located in a new building at 1799 Mount Mariah Drive.

Nevada Youth Legislators
Youth who will be in grades 9-12 this fall are eligible to apply to be Nevada Youth Legislators to complete two-year terms being vacated by 15 youth legislators graduating this June. Information and applications are available online. Applications must be received by June 19. 

Shadow Lane Improvements Begin June 18
On Monday, June 18, work will begin on the final phase of improvements on Shadow Lane between Alta Drive and Charleston Boulevard. For more details, see the news release online.

Hoops For Hope Basketball Camp and Parent Workshop
Chicago Bulls point guard C.J. Watson and his Quiet Storm Foundation will present the 10th Annual Hoops For Hope Basketball Camp and Parent Workshop for youth in grades 4-8 at the Doolittle Community Center July 19-21. The camp is designed to encourage youth to eat healthy foods, exercise daily, learn techniques and fundamentals of basketball, and develop life skills. Participation is free, but advance registration is required. For details, see the flier.

Texas Hold'em Charity Poker Tournament
The Quiet Storm Foundation will hold a Texas Hold'em Charity Poker Tournament to benefit its programs to serve inner-city youth on Sunday, July 15, at 5 p.m. at the Green Valley Ranch Casino poker room.
