Winners of C.J. Watson Black History Month Essay Contest To Be Recognized

On behalf of the Las Vegas City Council, I will recognize the winners of the C.J. Watson Black History Month Essay Contest at the City Council meeting Wednesday, March 7, at 9 a.m. in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St. Chicago Bulls guard C.J. Watson annually sponsors a local youth essay contest. Winners having the opportunity to visit Chicago and see a Bulls game at the United Center. Watson was born and raised in Las Vegas and played basketball at Bishop Gorman High School. He has hosted many basketball camps and back-to-school events in Las Vegas.

In addition, issues of particular interest to Ward 5 residents will be addressed during Item 36 at this council meeting, including updates on the Westside School, F Street re-opening and D Street improvements. This will be the first council meeting in the new City Hall.
