Actress Gabrielle Union To Serve As Co-Host Of Ward 5 Town Hall
Area Youth To Express Views During Upcoming Ward 5 Teen Town Hall

More than 300 students from six area high schools will participate in the Ward 5 Teen Town Hall from 9 to 10 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Las Vegas City Hall Council Chambers, located at 400 Stewart Avenue. Youth will be discussing a variety of current topics facing teens including peer pressure, depression and the importance of pursuing higher education. They also plan to discuss the economy and how it has affected their homes and lifestyles. Joining me and radio personality Mike P. as host will be actress and former model Gabrielle Union. She can currently be seen on ABC's FlashForward starring as Zoey Andata, girlfriend to Demetri Noh (John Cho), who sees a vision of what she believes is their wedding during her flash forward moment.  Among her notable roles is as the cheerleader opposite Kirsten Dunst in the film Bring it On. Union starred opposite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the blockbuster film Bad Boys II and played a medical doctor in the CBS drama series City of Angels. She starred with LL Cool J and Meagan Good in Deliver Us from Eva in 2003. Ms. Union became the first African-American love interest on the series Friends, starring as a love interest to both 'Joey' (Matt LeBlanc) and 'Ross' (David Schwimmer).

I will also be presenting Ms. Union with a proclamation during the Town Hall. This year's event is taking place during Black History Month, which is widely celebrated in our community.  Proclaiming a day for Gabrielle Union during this illustrious month will be newsworthy for our community because someone of her caliber made an effort to have a candid discussion about common conflicts amongst teens. I am thrilled that someone of Gabrielle's stature will be able to join us as co-host for this very important annual event for our teens. Having a celebrity in our midst will not only be a treat for our youth but will put a spotlight on Las Vegas.

Teen Town Hall will air live at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, on KCLV Channel 2. It will be rebroadcast at 3 p.m. Feb. 23; at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 24; at 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26; at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27; and at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28. You can also watch it online at www.kclv.tv.
