Ward 5 Las Vegas Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow Elected To National League Of Cities Board Of Directors
Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony Appointed To Public Safety Committee


     Ward 5 Las Vegas Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow was elected to the board of directors of the National League of Cities at the group’s annual meeting in Seattle Nov. 12-16. The National League of Cities serves a resource to and advocate for more than 19,000 cities, villages and towns.

     Councilman Barlow will be a voice for the city of Las Vegas and Nevada on the board, and will work with other city officials from across the nation on legislation to benefit all municipalities.

     “I’m honored to be elected to the National League of Cities Board of Directors by my peers,” Councilman Barlow said. “I will be an advocate for Las Vegas, and I’m excited to be a part of influencing policies that will benefit many across the country as well as the community where I was born and raised.”

     In addition, Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony was appointed to the National League of Cities Public Safety & Crime Prevention Committee. The committee is responsible for developing policy positions on issues involving crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, domestic terrorism, court systems and gun control.

     Ward 1 Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian was also honored at the meeting as she was named one of three finalists for the National League of Cities’ Women in Municipal Government Leadership Award.
