Las Vegas City Council To Consider Agreement For New Project At Symphony Park In Downtown Las Vegas
City Council To Also Recognize Local Winners Of The Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament


      The Las Vegas City Council will consider an item that would allow Citra Real Estate Capital LLC, of Marina del Ray, Calif., to build a skilled nursing facility on Symphony Park, at the Wednesday, Nov. 20, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

      The project is item 48 on the agenda, and would be located near the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. When completed it is estimated the new center will create about 900 jobs.

      The City Council will also recognize the local winners of the 14th annual Mayor’s Cup Soccer International Tournament. A total of 346 youth soccer teams from 11 U.S. states, Brazil, Nepal, Mexico and Canada competed in the tournament Oct. 25-27. The platinum-ranked tournament was held at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, Ed Fountain Park, Las Vegas Sports Park and Faith Lutheran fields. The event is co-hosted by the city of Las Vegas and the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club.

      Also Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will be recognized by Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman for being elected to the board of directors of the National League of Cities. The National League of Cities serves a resource to and advocate for more than 19,000 cities, villages and towns.

      In addition, Ward 3 Councilman Bob Coffin will recognize the Project 150 Teen Homelessness Program. The non-profit organization has raised more than $10,000 in food gift cards to assist homeless teens.

      Also, Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman will recognize the work of the Nevada Colon Cancer Partnership.

      Finally, the City Council will also recognize the November 2013 city of Las Vegas employee of the month.
