Las Vegas City Council To Discuss Interlocal Agreement For A Shared Services Assessment With North Las Vegas
City Council To Also Recognize Achievements Of Clark High School Students

The Las Vegas City Council will consider an interlocal agreement for shared services with North Las Vegas at the Wednesday, Nov. 6, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

The cities of North Las Vegas and Las Vegas are exploring innovative opportunities to work together to build a stronger region, including a six-month management consultation and shared services assessment. The purpose is to look for mutually beneficial programs to increase efficiencies and to stretch public dollars. The Las Vegas City Council will hear item 44 at the meeting and discuss the proposed interlocal agreement. The North Las Vegas City Council is scheduled to hear the item at its meeting Wednesday night.

The agreement proposes the creation of a Shared Services Committee, consisting of 11 jointly appointed community members. Under the six-month consultation agreement, the cities would work together to explore partnerships and shared services in several areas.

In addition, Ward 1 Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will recognize the National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists from Clark High School.

Also, Ward 5 Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will recognize a local man who is being inducted into the Nevada Chapter of the Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Ward 3 Councilman Bob Coffin will recognize Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Jesus Jimenez as the Citizen of the Month. Officer Jimenez recently assisted in the delivery of a baby.

The City Council will also recognize Peter Anthony, a local resident who provided free haircuts and grooming to those at the Shade Tree Shelter.

Finally, the City Council will also recognize city workers who responded to the recent heavy flooding in the northwest part of the city.
