Life is Beautiful, a large music, food, art and learning festival taking place in downtown Las Vegas on Oct. 26 and 27, will cause the closure of multiple streets throughout the upcoming week in preparation for the event.

The festival is unique in that it will occur on city streets that will close for the event. The festival footprint will close portions of downtown roughly bordered by Las Vegas Boulevard to the west, Carson Avenue to the south, 10th Street to the east and Mesquite Avenue to the North.

The first closure was Seventh Street between Stewart and Mesquite Avenues, which closed Wednesday. Streets in and around the festival footprint will continue to close leading up to the festival with final fencing being put into place beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.

In addition, Las Vegas Boulevard will be partially closed at times on Oct. 26 and 27.
      • Oct. 26 from 5 a.m. to Oct. 28 at 5 a.m. Las Vegas Boulevard Northbound will be closed from Clark Avenue to Stewart.
      • Oct. 26 from 11 p.m. to Oct. 27 at 1 a.m. Las Vegas Boulevard Southbound will be closed from Clark to Stewart.
      • Oct. 27 from 10 p.m. to Oct. 28 1 a.m. Las Vegas Boulevard Southbound will be closed from Clark to Stewart.
Also, Grand Central Parkway from Clark to Main Street, will be closed on Oct. 26 at 10 p.m. reopening on Oct 27, at 2 a.m., and on Oct. 27 at 10 p.m. reopening at 1 a.m. on Oct. 28.

Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman and Life Is Beautiful founder Rehan Choudhry will be joined by representatives of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at a news conference in advance of the upcoming downtown event at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.
