More Than 5,000 Youth From Around The World To Participate In Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup International Soccer Tournament Oct. 25-27
Event Will Bring An Estimated $10 Million Into Local Economy


Everyone is invited to watch 346 youth soccer teams from 11 U.S. states, Brazil, Nepal, Mexico and Canada compete in the 14th annual Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup International Soccer Tournament Oct. 25-27. The platinum-ranked tournament will be held at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, Ed Fountain Park, Las Vegas Sports Park and Faith Lutheran fields. The event is co-hosted by the city of Las Vegas and the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club.

Teams of boys and girls ages 9 to 15 will compete between 5 and 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25; between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26; and between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. Friday games will include primarily local teams. Admission to games is free all weekend. Spectators should bring their own seating, as thousands of people are expected to attend and participate.

“I am so looking forward to participating in the annual Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament,” said Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman. “We’ll be welcoming teams from Brazil and Nepal — as well as several teams from Canada and Mexico — and American teams from as far away as Minnesota and Alaska. I invite all Las Vegas residents to share in the fun and see these marvelous young athletes compete. It is a wonderful event that will bring an estimated $10 million into our local economy.”

The Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex is located at West Lake Mead Boulevard and Tenaya Way. The Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex is located at 7901 W. Washington Ave., between Buffalo and Durango drives. Ed Fountain Park can be found at Vegas Drive and Decatur Boulevard. Las Vegas Sports Park is located at 1400 N. Rampart Blvd. The Faith Lutheran fields are at 2015 S. Hualapai Way.

Members of first- and second-place teams will receive individual medals in each age division, and a trophy will be awarded to all first-place teams. Championship games will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex. Awards will first be presented at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the stage at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex and continue throughout the day until about 4:30 p.m.  Mayor Goodman and Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony are scheduled to attend the event Sunday afternoon to distribute awards.
