LVFR Rescues Fallen Climber At Red Rock Canyon
Climber Suffers Serious Injuries

A climber at the Red Rock Canyon Calico Vista 2 recreational area accidentally fell while in the process of climbing late Tuesday morning. Personnel from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to the accident, treated and transported the victim to a waiting medical helicopter.

Fire dispatchers received the call at 10:11 a.m. Personnel from Fire Station 47 located at Far Hills Road and Clark County 215 responded, and the department’s Technical Rescue Team also responded. Firefighters had to hike in about a quarter mile to treat the victim. Firefighters brought the victim out by foot on a stretcher to a medical transport helicopter that was waiting in the Overlook parking lot. The victim was transported to the Trauma Unit at UMC, injuries were serious but did not appear to be life threatening.

It appeared the victim fell approximately 30-40 feet while doing recreational climbing in the canyon. The victim was climbing with other people, and the incident appeared to be accidental in nature.
