Citizens Now Have Opportunity To Comment On City Meetings Online
New Program Allows For Comments On City Council And Planning Commission Items Through The City Of Las Vegas Website

The city of Las Vegas is offering a new, convenient service to those looking to comment on items on City Council or Planning Commission agendas. As soon as the agendas are posted on the city of Las Vegas website, citizens can click on any item that interests them and leave a comment.

These comments become part of the official record, just as they would if the citizen were at the meeting making comments in person or submitted a letter. The new system is another way that the city is working to make city government more accessible to citizens and to make it as convenient as possible to participate in the process.

Once an item is selected by the user from the upcoming agenda, a button marked “comment” will appear above the supporting materials for the item. Clicking the button will take users to a page where they can enter their comment.

The comments populate in real time, allowing the opportunity for the City Council or Planning Commissioners to see them as they are submitted, even while the meeting is occurring. Comments received on items after the item has been heard will not be included in the official meeting record.

In addition to this service, the city also broadcasts City Council and Planning Commission meetings live on KCLV Channel 2, the city’s award-winning government access channel, and streams them live on

Another way that citizens can be heard on city issues is through YourVoiceVegas, a website that allows for discussion on topics relating to the city of Las Vegas. With a 24-hour community and so many great things going on, it’s not always easy to make it to that town hall meeting, workshop or City Council discussion where an item you’re interested in is to be heard. YourVoiceVegas brings the discussion to you, wherever you may be, allowing your voice to be heard on your terms whenever it is convenient for you.

Online comment adds to the growing number of services available online. The city offers a variety of online services to make it easier for citizens to do business with the city. For example, you can apply for a job, pay for a business license, inquire on the status of an inspection, report graffiti and much more.
