Racel Street Storm Drain Improvement Project From El Capitan Way To Finch Feather Street To Begin This Week
Racel Street Lane Restrictions To Continue Through December

The city of Las Vegas will begin a storm drain improvement project this week on Racel Street between El Capitan Way and Finch Feather Street. The project is expected to take about five months and will require lane restrictions on Racel as well as occasional closure of entire blocks of the street to vehicular traffic (except for emergency vehicles). Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

New 42-inch reinforced concrete pipe will be connected to existing 42-inch storm drain at the intersection of Racel and El Capitan and be continued down Racel to just east of Finch Feather. Additional improvements along Racel near Floyd Lamb Park (between Al Carrison Street and North Cimarron Road) will include drop inlet modifications, new asphalt trail with sidewalk ramp, curb and gutter. When finished, area residents should experience improved rainwater drainage. The entire project is scheduled for completion in December 2014.

Harber Construction is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of this project is $498,820, provided by the Regional Flood Control District.
