Ugandan Orphans Choir To Perform Free Concert May 17
Meet The Choir Members At A Free Reception May 16 At West Las Vegas Arts Center

The public is invited to enjoy a free performance by the Ugandan Orphans Choir Saturday, May 17, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Library Theatre, located at 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. The performance is appropriate for all ages.

The choir of five girls and five boys ages 9-12 is from the Ssese Islands in Uganda’s Lake Victoria. The children sing, dance and play drums and other instruments. They will perform traditional African folk songs as well as contemporary Christian songs in English.

The Ugandan Orphans Choir is a ministry of Childcare Worldwide, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives through sponsorship and education, which leads to employability. Based in Bellingham, Washington, Childcare Worldwide has been serving impoverished children since 1981, working in Uganda and 10 other developing countries in the world. All 10 children’s lives were transformed through sponsorship by Childcare Worldwide, and now their main objective is to help other children by raising awareness of the desperate needs of children in developing countries.

Residents also are invited to a meet-and-greet reception with Ugandan Orphans Choir members Friday, May 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Arts Center at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free but space is limited and reservations are requested.  Please call 702-229-4800 to R.S.V.P. in advance.

The events are cosponsored by the Las Vegas–Clark County Library District and the city of Las Vegas. For more information on the events, call 702-229-4800. For more information on the choir and Childcare Worldwide, go online to
