Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will celebrate the groundbreaking of the remodel of Kianga Isoke Palacio Park at Doolittle Complex at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
Construction will begin next week to replace the current softball field with new shaded playground equipment, a splash pad, two 16-foot shade shelters and a 48-foot pavilion, two horseshoe pits, landscaping and plenty of open grassy space. During construction, the basketball courts, two baseball fields and all parking will remain open; the walking path, softball field, current playground equipment and exercise equipment area will be unavailable. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2014.
“In the last few years, the Kianga Isoke Palacio Park at Doolittle Complex has become more of a draw for families, so the concept for renovations is with them in mind,” said Councilman Barlow. “With these new renovations, there will be something for everyone, including a playground like no other!”
Funding for the project came from $2.2 million from Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act funds and the city’s general fund.
