Las Vegas City Council To Recognize National Spay And Neuter Awareness Month
Council To Also Recognize Chinese New Year Celebrations

The Las Vegas City Council will recognize National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month at the Wednesday, Feb. 5, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

Since adopting a spay and neuter ordinance in 2009, the city has seen an increase in the number of dogs and cats that are spayed and neutered, helping to address pet overpopulation in the community.

Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony is also scheduled to recognize the Chinese New Year celebrations in Las Vegas for the Year of the Horse.

Councilman Bob Beers will recognize Max Cooper, a 10-year-old who called 911 to get medical care for his mother when he found her unconscious.

Councilman Steven D. Ross will recognize the February Citizen of the Month Sandy Shackelford for her work in restoring the historic ranch house at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs.

Finally, the City Council will also recognize a team of city employees who purchased and installed the new parking meters downtown.
