Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge Cynthia S. Leung was elected 2014 president of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction (NJLJ) during its winter business meeting and educational conference held recently in North Las Vegas. The organization represents the Nevada Justices of the Peace and Municipal Court judges and provides judicial educational seminars each year.
Judge Leung has presided over the Las Vegas Municipal Court, Department 1, since February 2008, and served as chief judge of Municipal Court from 2011 to 2013. Judge Leung also presides over Las Vegas Municipal Court’s Women in Need Court, a successful specialized court which focuses on the recovery and redirection of women convicted of prostitution and drug-related offenses.
“It is an honor to be elected by my peers to this prestigious position,” Judge Leung said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues throughout the state.”
