Northwest Las Vegas House Fire Ruled Arson
Fire Started During Burglary Of Home


Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson investigators and detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a fire in a northwest Las Vegas home that was also burglarized. No one was home at the time of the incident. There were no reported injuries.

Fire dispatchers received numerous calls at 10:23 Sunday evening that a house at 5500 Mare Way was on fire. When firefighters arrived on scene heavy flames and smoke was coming from the one-story wood frame/stucco house. Firefighters had the fire under control within ten minutes.

The fire did extensive damage to the home, mostly to the living room, the area where the fire started. Damage was estimated at $75,000.

When fire investigators started to check into the fire, they discovered the house was broken into. Arson investigators are working with detectives from Metro concerning the fire. The incident remains under investigation.

Two adults that live in the house were not at home at the time of the fire. They are now displaced.
