The city of Las Vegas has earned the 2013 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® Award from the National Procurement Institute. The city of Las Vegas is one of only six government agencies in Nevada and one of only 58 cities in the United States to receive the award. This is the fourth AEP Award for the city of Las Vegas, having received previous awards 2009-2011.
Procurement for the city of Las Vegas is conducted by Purchasing and Contracts Division staff of the Finance Department.
“We are very proud of the fine work done by our Purchasing and Contracts Division staff,” said City Manager Betsy Fretwell. “This national recognition only confirms their already first-class, professional reputation.”
The AEP Award recognizes organizational excellence in procurement. Public and nonprofit organizations earn the award by obtaining a high application score based on standardized criteria. Judging is based on innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership attributes.
In 1995, the National Procurement Institute, Inc. established a program to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement. Its Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) Awards have been distributed annually since 1996. Counties, cities, school districts, states, special districts, and universities, both public and private, are eligible. An independent committee of purchasing professionals conducts the official evaluations. For more information on the awards and recipients, visit online.
