Las Vegas City Council To Recognize Water Safety Campaign
Peruvian Independence Day Also To Be Highlighted


The Las Vegas City Council will recognize the efforts of Joe Vassallo and the Float Like A Duck swim safety campaign at the Wednesday, July 24, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main St.

The program teaches water safety to children for free and has been ongoing for more than a decade.

Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman is also scheduled to recognize the firefighters and emergency responders who worked to ensure resident safety during the recent Carpenter 1 Fire in the Spring Mountains. 

In addition, the City Council will also recognize Peruvian Independence Day.  Peru proclaimed its independence from Spain on July 28, 1821. The Peruvian Association of Las Vegas is very active in the community and will be recognized for its work.

Also, Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will recognize the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Northwest Area Command for the outreach efforts of officers in the community.
Councilman Steven D. Ross will honor the July Citizens of the Month for working to keep their neighborhood clean.
Finally, the City Council will also recognize the Senior of the Quarter and the July Employee of the Month.
