Vacant House Fire Under Investigation
No One Injured During Incident

Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters responded to a vacant house fire at 1620 E. St. Louis Ave. at 12:09 p.m. Monday. Shortly after firefighters arrived on scene, flames broke through the roof of the one story/concrete block house.

Due to the house being boarded up with bars on the windows and the intensity of the fire, firefighters fought the flames from the outside. Shortly after firefighters arrived, the roof caved in sending the air conditioner into the house. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The house was filled and surrounded by debris which hampered operations by firefighters. The house has been vacant for many years and neighbors said the house was sometimes used by homeless people. The house was full of debris and trash.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house sustained extensive damage. Damage was estimated at $150,000.
