Ward 1 Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian and Ward 2 Councilman Bob Beers invite residents to bring materials to dispose of, shred or donate to the free “Sizzling For Green” event Saturday, July 27, from 8 to 11 a.m. at All-American Park.
Clark County School District Police and city of Las Vegas deputy marshals will accept unwanted prescription drugs for safe and legal disposal.
“Residents should go through the medicine cabinet and box up all the outdated, leftover and unwanted prescriptions drugs,” Councilwoman Tarkanian said. “Pack up the old cell phones, chargers and accessories you no longer use, and box up the gently used clothing and small household appliances you don’t want.”
Volunteers will be on-hand at the event to help residents as they drive up with materials. Opportunity Village will provide staff and a shredding truck to dispose of documents at the park, located at 1551 S. Buffalo Drive. The event will take place in the south parking lot near Oakey Boulevard.
There is a five-box limit per vehicle for the shredding, and volunteers from Starbucks, Care Coalition and Liberty Mutual Insurance will unload everything for residents.
“Pack up those old documents and bank statements you’ve been meaning to shred,” Councilman Beers said. “Load it all in the car in the morning and drive to All-American Park, and it will be taken care of quickly and conveniently.”
