City Council To Recognize Contributions To Public Art

The Las Vegas City Council and the Las Vegas Arts Commission will recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to public art at the Wednesday, June 19, City Council meeting that will begin following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. The Las Vegas Arts Commission is responsible for the creation of public art projects that stimulate intellectual discourse, transform public spaces and celebrate cultural diversity. The Arts Commission will recognize individuals and groups who have contributed to public art in Las Vegas.

In addition, Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony will recognize Flag Day. Flag Day is celebrated annually on June 14, because that was the date in 1777 that the Continental Congress passed the first Flag Act.

Finally, Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow is scheduled to recognize the June Citizen of the Month, Patricia Cunningham. Cunningham has been a fixture in Ward 5 and is well known for her local radio show.
