Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow To Dedicate Crosswalk To Memory Of Senior Who Championed Project
New Crosswalk Improves Safety On Busy Stretch Of Decatur Boulevard

Ward 5 Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will be joined by the residents of Las Vegas Manor to dedicate a new crosswalk in the 2100 block of North Decatur to the memory of Doris Stoehr at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8. Family members will also be on hand for the dedication.

Stoehr was a Las Vegas Manor resident who had started the process of getting the crosswalk put in on Decatur between Vegas Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard. Tragically, she was hit and killed by a car crossing Decatur mid-block before the crosswalk was installed.

The new crosswalk includes flashing yellow lights as well as a sheltered area in the center median to assist pedestrians in crossing the busy street safely.

“I miss Doris and I wanted to do something special to remember her,” Councilman Barlow said. “This was a tragic situation and I pray that people remember Doris and think about their safety and the safety of others as they walk, bike and drive on our roadways.”
