House Fire Under Investigation
One Occupant Taken To Hospital For Minor Injury

A fire that heavily damaged a house in the “Lakes” area of the city is under investigation by Las Vegas fire investigators. One occupant of the house was taken to the hospital after they jumped from an upstairs window. The teen was taken to be checked out for any injuries.

Fire dispatchers received numerous calls at 5:42 p.m. that a house at 3120 Ocean Port Drive had heavy black smoke coming from it. Fire dispatchers also received a call from someone who lives in the house that a sofa was on fire in the family room.

When firefighters arrived at the two-story wood frame house, heavy smoke and flames were showing. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Fire investigators believe the fire started in the family room around the sofa. The cause remains under investigation. Damage from the fire is estimated at $150,000.
