Reconstruction Of Residential Streets To Occur In Subdivision Located At Northeast Corner Of Stewart And Marion
Work Activities to Begin Wednesday, Jan. 2

Starting on Jan. 2, and continuing through Feb. 28, crews will be working on the interior streets located in the subdivision bounded by Marion Drive on the west, the Cedar Channel on the north, the Las Vegas Wash on the east, and Stewart Avenue on the south.

The work will consist of removal and replacement of the asphalt road section.  The reconstruction is related to age related deterioration of the pavement.

Motorists will have access to homes during this period; however, there will be limited or no parking on the streets during the construction activities.

This is the third and final phase of work in this area. Upgrades and repairs to area sidewalks were completed in accordance with federal ADA requirements several months ago, as the first phase of work. The city also coordinated activities with the Las Vegas Valley Water District so that it could complete appropriate maintenance activities prior to placement of the new roadway section. The coordination was done in order to ensure that the new pavement would not need to be cut after placement, and to provide for cost savings associated with excavation related pavement repairs.

Las Vegas Paving Corporation is the contractor, and city of Las Vegas Department of Operations and Maintenance personnel are managing the project. Funding for this project is provided by the city of Las Vegas. The estimated cost for this project is $750,000.
