Volunteers To Work Together On Park And Trail Cleanup
Wayne Bunker Family Park And Adjacent Lone Mountain Trail Sections Will Benefit

Volunteers from Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Las Vegas Meadows Stake 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in partnership with Outside Las Vegas Foundation and the city of Las Vegas, will work to clean up Wayne Bunker Family Park and the adjacent sections of Lone Mountain Trail Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon. The park is located in Ward 4 at 7351 W. Alexander Road, between Tenaya Way and Buffalo Drive.

“I encourage area residents to join in this effort to clean up our neighborhood parks,” said Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony, who represents this area of Ward 4. “Let’s take this opportunity to build relationships with community members and neighbors while we work together on this project that benefits everyone who uses the park and trail.”

The city of Las Vegas entered into an agreement last year with the Outside Las Vegas Foundation to help enhance the city’s trail systems by developing an adopt-a-trail program. The foundation also assists the city in developing a volunteer effort to clean up city parks and trails.

The volunteers will pick up trash, remove weeds and graffiti, clean playground equipment, clear out the flood channel, and sift the sand and remove debris from the volleyball and playground pits. The church group expects to provide about 70 volunteers as well as a power washer and lunch for the expected 100 volunteers. Community members that wish to join in the volunteer effort should e-mail For more information, call (702) 229-2079.
