Fire Damages Vacant Westside Apartment Building
No Utilities Were Not Connected To Building

Las Vegas firefighters responded to a vacant apartment building fire located at 508 W. Washington Ave. (at E Street) at 1:41 Sunday morning. On arrival, flames were showing from the second floor of a two-story concrete block, four-unit apartment building. The building was vacant and boarded up, but the front door was open on the unit where most of the fire was. Firefighters were able to enter the building and extinguish the fire in less than ten minutes.
Damage was confined to the two upstairs, two-bedroom units. Damage was estimated at $20,000.
The building is vacant, was boarded up and does not have utilities connected to it. There was evidence that homeless people were staying in the building. A witness told investigators that people were seen coming and going into the building earlier in the day.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, it remains under investigation.
There were no reported injuries. West Washington Avenue was closed from H Street to D Street for approximately one hour.
