Fire In Bedroom Of Home Reveals Marijuana Grow House
Fire Started In Air Conditioner In Room With Plants

Las Vegas firefighters responded to 1904 W. Mesquite Ave. (U.S. 95/Rancho) at 9:16 Friday morning after a neighbor reported smoke coming from a one-story wood frame house. As firefighters were responding, the neighbor went to the house to see if they could help and the occupant of the house was retrieving a garden hose. He told the neighbor he had everything under control and he did not want the fire department coming to his home.

A few minutes later firefighters arrived on scene and found light smoke coming from the home and discovered the fire in one of the bedrooms.

A stand alone air conditioner unit was on fire and was put out. While firefighters were in the room, they found it contained marijuana plants in what appeared to be a grow operation. They requested Metro Police to respond.

The fire was confined to the one room and caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.

There were no injuries in connection with the incident.

The scene was turned over to Metro Police.
