More Than 5,000 Youth From Around The World To Participate In Mayor’s Cup International Soccer Tournament Oct. 26-28
Event Will Bring An Estimated $5 Million Into Local Economy


Everyone is invited to watch 336 youth soccer teams from 12 U.S. states, Russia, Mexico and Canada compete in the 13th annual Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup International Soccer Tournament Oct. 26-28. The platinum-ranked tournament will be held at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, Ed Fountain Park and Centennial Hills Park. The event is co-hosted by the city of Las Vegas and the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club.

Teams of boys and girls ages 9 to 15 will compete between 6 and 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26; between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27; and between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28. Friday games will include primarily local teams. Admission to games is free all weekend. Spectators should bring their own seating, as thousands of people are expected to attend and participate.

“I am really looking forward to attending the annual Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament,” said Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman. “We’ll be welcoming a team from Russia  as well as several teams from Canada and Mexico  and American teams from as far away as Florida and Alaska. I invite all Las Vegas residents to share in the fun and see these wonderful young athletes compete. It is an outstanding event that will bring an estimated $5 million into our local economy.”

The Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex is located at West Lake Mead Boulevard and Tenaya Way. The Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex is located at 7901 W. Washington Ave., between Buffalo and Durango drives. Ed Fountain Park can be found at Vegas Drive and Decatur Boulevard. Centennial Hills Park soccer fields are at North Buffalo Drive and Elkhorn Road.

Members of first- and second-place teams will receive individual medals in each age division, and a trophy will be awarded to all first-place teams. Awards will begin at approximately noon Sunday at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex and continue throughout the day until approximately 4:30 p.m. Mayor Goodman is scheduled to attend the event at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, to distribute awards. Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony is scheduled to attend and distribute awards at 1:30 p.m.
