Shadow Lane Improvements Schedule Extended Through October
Rain And Utility Conflicts Necessitated Additional Time


Due to weather problems and some unexpected utility conflicts, the schedule has been extended on the second and final phase of a public infrastructure improvement project on Shadow Lane between Alta Drive and Charleston Boulevard. The uncompleted work is confined to the west half of the roadway. The remaining work includes soil stabilization, asphalt paving, utility adjustments and final roadway striping.

Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work activities will be accommodated by using half-street road closures. Motorists are advised to use Rancho Drive or Tonopah Drive as alternative routes. The work is expected to be complete by Oct. 31.

Already completed in this phase of the project are sidewalk ramps, sewer main pipe and manholes replacement, and paving of the east half of the street.

The first phase of work was completed earlier this year, and consisted of improvements to sidewalk areas to meet federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, installation of underground traffic signal conduit, plus construction of traffic signal poles and foundations to make a future traffic signal at the intersection of Pinto and Shadow lanes possible without disturbing the new roadway.

Aggregate Industries, Inc. is the contractor. City of Las Vegas Department of Operations and Maintenance personnel are managing the project. Funding for this project is provided by the city of Las Vegas and the Clark County Regional Transportation Commission. The estimated cost for this phase of the improvements is $1,200,000.
