Fire Damages Condo Unit
No One Is Home During Fire, Fire Remains Under Investigation

Las Vegas firefighters responded to the Paseo de Rey Condos, 1404 Santa Margarita St. (Oakey/Rainbow) at 3:11 p.m. Monday. Firefighters found flames on the balcony of an upstairs condo unit in a two-story wood frame/stucco building with eight condo units.

Firefighters had the fire under control in just a few minutes and were able to keep the major portion of the fully involved balcony from extending into the condo unit. Fire just broke through the balcony door when firefighters entered the unit and they were able to stop the advancing fire.

The fire destroyed typical items on the balcony such as patio furniture.  When the fire broke through the door it destroyed a sofa in the living room. There was heat and smoke damage in the condo. Most contents in the condo unit were saved. Damage was estimated at $30,000.

Fire investigators determined the fire started on the balcony.  No one was home when the fire started.  Neighbors said that one of the three occupants had left the condo just a short time earlier.  Fire investigators were trying to reach the occupants to continue the investigation.

There were no injuries in connection with the incident.
