Apartment Fire Displaces Seven People
Fire Is Under Investigation

Las Vegas firefighters responded to an apartment fire at the Bonanza Garden Apartments at 2751 E. Bonanza Road (Bonanza/28th St) at 8:43 Friday morning. Fire dispatchers received numerous 9-1-1 calls about the fire.

On arrival, firefighters found a downstairs apartment heavily involved with fire and the fire was extending out a window to the apartment above and the attic area. Firefighters entered the apartment and had the fire out in less than two minutes and were able to stop the fire from spreading to the apartment above. A portion of the roof of the two-story wood frame/stucco apartment building with eight units had minor damage.

Two rooms in the apartment were heavily damaged while the rest of the unit had smoke damage. Damage was estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire started in a bedroom. Fire investigators are still talking with the two adults and five children who live in the apartment. The family of seven is displaced and receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.  Apartment management said they had another apartment available for the family to move into.

There were no reported injuries.
