Wind Destroys West Charleston Fireworks Stand
No One Is Injured During Incident

Las Vegas firefighters responded to a reported fireworks stand that was destroyed by high winds early Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. The stand was set up at the entrance to the Wal Mart Shopping Center in the 4500 block of West Charleston Boulevard.  Witnesses told firefighters that it appeared that a mini dust devil hit the stand, destroying it and sending debris across West Charleston Blvd at the East Essex Drive intersection. One piece of the stand was hanging from cable television cables suspended between utility poles. Numerous fireworks were also spread across the intersection. People who work in the stand, firefighters and bystanders helped to get the fireworks off the roadway without incident.  The company that owns the stand has already replaced the destroyed stand and is back in operation tonight.
