June Concerts Offer Diverse Entertainment For All Ages
Richel Kompst In “Blame It On The Walleye” June 16 At Charleston Heights Arts Center; DjangoVegas! Gypsy Jazz June 23 At The Historic Fifth Street School


Two summer concerts will offer diverse entertainment for all ages at two city of Las Vegas centers. "Blame It on the Walleye," which features singer/comedienne Richel Kompst and her school of walleye back-up singers and band members, will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Charleston Heights Arts Center Theatre at 800 S. Brush St. The story is told through music and monologues featuring the Mistress of Ceremonies Olga Torkelson, and a bevy of impersonated cameo performers, including Doris Day, Ann-Margret and the beloved Barbra Streisand. The show brings the audience through diverse styles of music, from jazz to country, Broadway to the Beatles. Tickets are priced at $10 in advance and $15 on event day.  For more information on the artists, go to

DjangoVegas! will feature the Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, The Fishtank Ensemble and The Hot Club of Las Vegas in concert on Saturday, June 23, at 6 p.m. at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. The G String Band will entertain during a pre-concert cocktail hour in the courtyard starting at 5 p.m. and during intermission. The concert is a celebration of the music of Django Reinhardt and other gypsy jazz past and present. Concert tickets are priced at $10. Beverages and food will be available for purchase. Limited free parking is available at the Charleston Heights Arts Center and the Historic Fifth Street School. Metered parking is available across the street in parking lots both directly south and west of the school.
