Bedroom Fire Damages Northwest Valley Home

Las Vegas firefighters responded to a bedroom fire in a home at 2512 Rialto Road (Jones/Smoke Ranch) at 1:54 p.m. today.  On arrival, one bedroom in a one-story wood frame/stucco home was heavily involved with fire. The fire came out a window under a carport. The flames damaged the carport and a car that was parked under the carport. The rest of the house had moderate smoke damage. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
One person was treated on scene for minor smoke inhalation and released.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. It started on a table in the bedroom. One of the occupants told 9-1-1 dispatchers that a light on the table caught fire and she tried to put it out, but it got larger. Fire investigators could not pinpoint the fire to the light. The fire was ruled accidental.
The American Red Cross is assisting three adults and two children that live in the house.
