Get Movin’ With Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman April 28
Everyone Invited To First Mayor’s Walk At Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex

The public is invited to join Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman as she leads the charge to improve residents' health at her first "Get Movin' with Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman" healthy lifestyle walk on Saturday, April 28, at 8 a.m. The walk will take place at the Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, located at 7901 W. Washington Ave. at Cimarron Road. The event is free and registration opens at 7:30 a.m. Participants can start their day with an invigorating 1.71-mile walk and stay for a fun day in the park. Pets on a leash are welcome. Light healthy refreshments will be available for participants at no cost (while supplies last).

"We want Las Vegans to be the healthiest people in the world, and exercise will help us be healthier," Mayor Goodman said. "The city offers many great recreational opportunities, and I encourage residents to take advantage of the city's parks, trails and sports facilities to have fun while they exercise."

The Mayor's Healthy Lifestyle Initiative, which can be found along with other healthy tips at, consists of a three-point plan:

Get Smart: Diet and nutrition are essential components to a healthy lifestyle and quality of life. Educate our citizens about proper diets.

Get Up: Sedentary activities increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and obesity. Educate the citizenry on importance of a healthy, active lifestyle.

Get Out: The mayor and City Council are supportive of parks and recreation amenities and are committed to providing quality facilities in the city of Las Vegas. Identify recreation centers, parks and trails near you.

The city of Las Vegas has many arts, recreation and sports facilities that offer a wide range of activities, from cultural performances, sports leagues, and children's day camps to Corporate Challenge, the largest amateur athletic competition in the state. We encourage you to visit city facilities, and along the way become healthier and happier. For more information, please call 229-6706 or visit To see the event flier, click here.
