KWAK Ballet Company Performs March 10
Kyudong Kwak & Yoomie Lee Featured At Charleston Heights Arts Center Theatre


The public is invited to enjoy a performance of classical ballet by the KWAK Ballet Company Saturday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Charleston Heights Arts Center, located at 800 S. Brush St. Tickets, priced at $10 in advance and $15 on event day, are available online at or by calling (702) 229-6383.

Featuring principal dancers Kyudong Kwak and Yoomie Lee, the company includes pre-professional ballet dancers and students. Kwak and Lee stood center stage for many years with the Universal Ballet and Seoul Ballet Theatre in Korea, and are former principal dancers of the Nevada Ballet Theatre. Born in Daegu, Korea, Kwak began his ballet training at an early age with the Korean National Ballet and the Universal Ballet. He received additional training at the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington, D.C. In 1989, he won the gold medal Korean Dance Competition and in 1992 he won the silver medal at the Dong-Ah dance competition. Kwak danced with the Universal Ballet for eight years and with the Seoul Ballet Theatre for three years as principal dancer before joining Nevada Ballet Theatre in 1998. In Nevada, he served as principal dancer and ballet master. He is the founder of the nonprofit Las Vegas Ballet Company.

Lee was born in Seoul, Korea, and graduated from the ballet department of Sun-Hwa Arts School. She received additional training at the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington, D.C., before going on to dance with the Universal Ballet Company for 11 years. In 1991, she competed in and earned the silver medal in the Dong-ah Competition. In 1999, she joined the Nevada Ballet Theatre and was promoted to principal dancer in 2003.

Coming up March 17 at Charleston Heights Arts Center is the St. Patrick’s Day Dance with Carl Grove Combo.
