Rainbow Company Offers Exciting Summer Theatre Opportunities
“How I Became A Pirate” June 3-12, Summer Drama Classes Ages 4-18


Families will enjoy the swashbuckling adventure musical, “How I Became A Pirate,” at the Charleston Heights Arts Center June 3-12.  Based on the popular picture book of the same name, this Rainbow Company Youth Theatre production carries its young hero away on a wave of escapades that will enthrall everyone. The cast of 20 young people and adults sing and dance their way through exciting scenes, accompanied by music director Joseph L. Cottone and directed by Karen McKenney. Joey Miceli plays the boy, Jeremy Jacob. The captain of the pirates, Braid Beard, is portrayed by Joel Ruud. Tickets are priced at $7 for adults, $5 for teens and senior citizens, and $3 for children age 12 and younger. Show times at the center, located at 800 S. Brush St., are 7 p.m. June 3, 4, 10 and 11, and 2 p.m. June 5, 11 and 12. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling (702) 229-6383.

The award-winning Rainbow Company Youth Theatre also is offering a variety of classes and a theatre conservatory at the Charleston Heights Arts Center beginning in early June. 

On Saturdays, drama classes are available for ages 4-12. On Wednesday evenings, a teen class will be conducted. Staffed by professional theatre educators, students will dramatize stories or scenes, and work on improvisational and performance skills. Beginners are welcome, as well as those with experience. Additionally, Rainbow Company will provide a musical theatre dance class on Thursday evenings for ages 10-adult.

A theatre conservatory will be held June 13-25, which includes a performance on the main stage of Charleston Heights Arts Center on the final Saturday. Ages 8-11 will attend 8 a.m.-noon and ages 12-16 will attend 1-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
